  Recently, Amerman Elementary School hosted a STEAM Career Day. The elementary STEAM teacher, Kim Chenoweth, came up with the idea and invited parents of Amerman Elementary to sign up to present if they had a STEAM-related job. Ms. Chenoweth said there was an overwhelming number of willing presenters. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math.

  For this Classroom Close-Up we were invited to Emily Georgoff's 3rd grade class at Silver Springs Elementary. The students picked their favorite books to compete in the class's March Book Madness challenge. The students presented their books to the class and the students selected the "Sweet 16". Then the students wrote a letter about their book and students voted on which ones made it to the "Elite 8". This week for the "Elite 8", the students were working on book character interviews.

  Many years ago when Cooke School was housed at Old Village School, staff celebrated Thanksgiving with a school-wide feast. In 2012, when Cooke moved into their current building, they carried on the Thanksgiving Feast tradition. It was paused temporarily during Covid, but has made a return this year, stronger than ever.
