Young 5's Program: KinderSTANGS
Northville Public Schools is proud to introduce a Young 5's program called KinderSTANGS starting in Fall of 2024.
Our program was created for students who would benefit from an additional year of growth between preschool and Kindergarten. Our Young 5's program is a FREE, full-day program that focuses on social development, emotional development, fine/gross motor skills, oral language, fundamental literacy skills, and mathematical number sense.
Ridge Wood Elementary and Winchester Elementary will host the program for the first year. Placement will be determined based on space available at each location.
Program Highlights
- Full day, five days a week
- NO COST to families of eligible students
- Same start/end times as our elementary schools
- Follows the NPS school year calendar
- Before and after school care is available to students at a cost
- Bussing will be offered to those students who meet the district's transportation criteria
- Grade Progression for Young 5s student - Year 1: Young 5s, Year 2: Kindergarten, Year 3: First Grade

September 2, 2025 to December 1, 2025 | May enroll in Kindergarten. We suggest families consider enrolling their student in our new Young 5's Program. (Signed waiver is required for both programs) |
After December 2, 2025 | Not eligible for Kindergarten or Young 5's Program.* |
*Students who turn 5 after December 2, 2025, are NOT eligible for Kindergarten or Young 5s for the 2025-26 school year.
