Northville Council of PTA's Mission Statement
The mission of the Northville Council of Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) is to provide a forum for discussion of child-related issues, to communicate ideas, to coordinate common building level programs and to promote parent awareness. The mission of the National PTA is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. We are a founding member of the Northville C.A.R.E.S. for Youth Advisory Council which allows us to share information and resources across our community.
Northville Council of PTAs will work with other community organization in providing programs and activities that will benefit children directly or indirectly. The council will continue its commitment to parents, teachers and students in the following ways:

Advocacy PTA has worked with school communities and decision makers to solve the toughest problems in our nation’s history. Our Advocacy Committee’s goal is to protect the interests of children’s education in Lansing and Washington D.C. in a non-partisan approach. Our purpose is to inform parents about important education issues at the state or federal level and to encourage people to contact legislators to make sure their voice is heard.
Community Engagement through our partnership and Coordinates and/or sponsors community wide speakers on relevant and timely topics that will help parents handle parenting issues. Events will take place throughout the year and information will be made available to all in the community. We work closely with other Northville and Community organizations to bring relevant information to our families.

In the Winter of 2022 the Council of PTAs along with Northville CARES sponsored screenings of the "Chasing Childhood" documentary. As a follow up, Lenore Skenazy who was heavily featured in the documentary, spoke at Parent Camp about the importance of unscheduled, independent play. To continue this momentum, and to challenge both our students and families, we are making the following resources available to our Northville Elementary community at Open Houses and through list serv communication at the start of the school year.

Right click on image and open in new tab to read or print. This project will look very different for each student and in each home. Be on the lookout for more follow up activities and conversations throughout the year.
Reflections provides all students, kindergarten through twelfth grade, an opportunity to participate in the National PTA annual arts Reflections Program. Students are encouraged to submit their work in one of the following categories: Film/Video Production, Dance, Choreography, Musical Composition, Photography, Visual Arts and Literature. Each student should contact their building PTA to request information such as rules, entry form and due dates as each PTA may offer different categories each year. For more information check the Reflections tab on the right.
The Council funds many of these and other programs through the annual school supply kit fundraiser. The sales of the kits occur in spring and are made available to the parents/students prior to the start of the school year. We are also excited to partner with Little Caesar's for a Pizza Kit fundraiser this year to help our busy families with dinner and raise funds to support local Community Engagement. More information will be shared when it is finalized.
All proceeds are used to benefit the students of Northville Public Schools.
Thank you to all families who find the time to volunteer or attend the events throughout the year. Your time, efforts and continued support provided to our kids, schools and community are greatly appreciated.
