For March is Reading Month, Thornton Creek Elementary embraced the theme of \"Teaming up for Reading\" and Ms. Wesley\'s 4th grade class took it to the next level with their creative IditaREAD challenge! Inspired by the legendary Iditarod sled dog race in Alaska, students teamed up and tracked their reading progress along the Iditarod trail. By reading 900 minutes, they mushed their way all the way to Nome! Their reward? A one-of-a-kind outdoor IditaREAD celebration, complete with sled-pulling relays, checkpoint challenges, and tons of teamwork. Thanks to a generous grant from the Northville Educational Foundation and Hillside PTA, Hillside Middle School purchased special wireless headphones, making music and dancing more inclusive for all students, including those with sensory sensitivities.
