• 3:03 Special Olympics Host Leadership Launch Event at Northville High School Featured

  Recently, Special Olympics of Michigan hosted a Leadership Launch event at Northville High School. About 15 Unified Champion Schools from SE Michigan were invited to attend at NHS. Each school brought a handful of students with and without intellectual disabilities to participate in breakout sessions to identify their own leadership skills and core values.

  For this Classroom Close-Up we visited Ms. Robertson's preschool class at Old Village School. This is a pilot classroom for High Scope, a new curriculum Early Childhood is incorporating. They start each morning with Message Board which is part of High Scope and promotes early learning and tells the students about the daily schedule.

In their Courage Unit, students are learning about ways to impact their community. They are selling candy canes for their service to action project. With the money, the students plan to buy presents for C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.
