  For this Classroom Close-Up we were invited to tag along with Sue Beth Balash's 5th grade class at Thornton Creek Elementary for the Great Backyard Bird Count. The class has been learning about birds and how to identify them. So they put their new skills to the test as they walked around outside to tally what native birds they spotted and submitted their findings to Cornell University.

  Elementary STEAM teacher, Kim Chenoweth, talks about this year's 9th Annual Northville STEAM Fair! The community open house will be held on April 25th from 6:00pm-8:00pm. The 4th grade student visit will be on April 26th from 9am-1:30pm. The event is held in the Northville High School gymnasium.

  For this Classroom Close-Up we stopped by the Art House in downtown Northville where the Northville High School International Baccalaureate art class was setting up for their Art Exhibit. The IB Art Exhibition runs from March 21-April 1.

  For this Classroom Close-Up we were invited to Emily Georgoff's 3rd grade class at Silver Springs Elementary. The students picked their favorite books to compete in the class's March Book Madness challenge. The students presented their books to the class and the students selected the "Sweet 16". Then the students wrote a letter about their book and students voted on which ones made it to the "Elite 8". This week for the "Elite 8", the students were working on book character interviews.

  For this Classroom Close-Up we visited Amerman Elementary's Library where we got to see a Northville Educational Foundation i3 Grant in action! Christine Parnin, 4th grade ALPS teacher, and Laura Perkins, Media Center aide, were awarded an NEF Grant for audio books for the library.

  For this Classroom Close-Up we visited Jen Lawson's Algebra class at Hillside Middle School where the students were working on a project in which they are writing an exponential function to predict the population of a city in 5 years. Plus, Ms. Lawson loves to head up care packages for military troops overseas. Many students donated items, wrote cards, and helped put together the care packages.

  A large number of STUDENTS and staff from Northville High School, Hillside Middle School, and Meads Mill Middle School participated in this year's Polar Plunge! The district raised over $17,000 for Special Olympics!
