Parent Camp Preview: NPS Presenters Featuring Varying Topics

The 9th annual Parent Camp and Wellness Fair is Saturday, February 3rd from 9-2pm at Northville High School. We have more than 40 presenting topics to choose from for the 3 breakout sessions. The assistant principal at Hillside Middle School will be offering strategies to help parents increase self motivation and resilience in their child. Our ESL (English Second Language) Department will be explaining how our ESL program works here at NPS. And Hillside's new school safety administrator will be talking to parents about the dangers of marijuana edibles.

    A group of 4th graders at Ridge Wood Elementary learned about petitions. They decided to create their own for STRAWBERRY MILK.

    The kids turned in their signed petitions and persuasive essays to Ms. Solensky and the lunch service director for their thoughts. The school has been selected to pilot the strawberry milk at lunch. If it's a hit, then all NPS schools will offer strawberry milk as an option next school year.

    For this Classroom Close-Up we were invited to Jessica Onkka's preschool class at Cooke School to see the students doing a group speech session and working on their communication systems. Cooke School is a special education center program that services students from twelve local school districts in Western Wayne County. Our population includes students ages 3 through 26 years old, who are severely cognitively impaired, severely multiply impaired, and students dual-diagnosed with a cognitive and emotional impairment.
