Summer Programs move to Thornton Creek for 2018

Although the summer sun and warm temperatures are still a ways off, Northville Public Schools would like to take this opportunity to share with you a plan to move the school district’s Summer Kids’ Club and Full-Day Pre-K Summer Camp programs, along with the weeklong Camp Invention program, from Ridge Wood Elementary School to Thornton Creek Elementary School for summer 2018.  The need to move the programs to Thornton Creek is the result of a major parking lot and sidewalk replacement project slated for Ridge Wood over the summer months that will limit access to the school.  Carpet also will be replaced in the Ridge Wood Offices over the summer.

The Summer Kids’ Club and Pre-K programs are part of the district’s Early Childhood Education and Extended Day Programs that provides before- and after-school childcare for working families during the school year. The Summer Kids’ Club and Pre-K programs are tuition-based, full-day programs for school-aged children from kindergarten to sixth grade, as well as preschoolers from age 33 months to five years old. This year the programs will be available from Tuesday, June 19 through Friday, August 17, 2018.

The Summer Kids’ Club and Pre-K programs will meet in classrooms on the east side of Thornton Creek with its own entrance.  An office space will be established and staffed throughout the summer.

For more information, go to Early Childhood Education and Extended Day Programs. Registration for both summer and fall programs is February 16 – March 2, 2018 for currently enrolled families and March 7-22, 2018 for new families.

Camp Invention will take place July 16-20, 2018, in classrooms in the upper elementary area at Thornton Creek. For more information or to register for Camp Invention, go to or call 1-800-968-4332. Use promo code IDEAS25 until March 23, 2018.

Work on the Ridge Wood parking lot and sidewalks will get underway as quickly as possible after the end of the school year and will last most of the summer. These much-needed improvements are being paid for with Sinking Fund Renewal dollars approved by voters in 2015.
