The day kicked off with a warm welcome and an opportunity for students to connect with peers from other schools. Hillside and Meads students then participated in a series of breakout sessions focused on leadership development, mental health advocacy, and strategies for fostering inclusive, supportive school environments. Adult liaisons also took part in their own targeted breakout session during this time.
Midday, students enjoyed lunch, took group photos, and met with their assigned teams—continuing to build connections and reflect on the morning’s discussions.
In the afternoon, students participated in a student-led panel, where they shared their experiences, debriefed key takeaways, and discussed ways to bring the Be Nice message back to their own school communities.
The symposium offered students a meaningful opportunity to grow as leaders and return to Hillside and Meads Mill empowered to make a positive difference. Students represented their schools with pride and are excited to carry forward the lessons and inspiration gained from the event.
