For the second year in a row, the Northville High School Girls Golf Team has earned the title of MHSAA Division 1 State Champions! The Mustangs capped off a remarkable season with a dominant 29-stroke victory over runner-up Macomb Dakota at The Meadows at Grand Valley State University on October 17–18.
A young but experienced team, the Mustangs showcased their depth and composure on the biggest stage. Junior Naaz Gill placed 4th individually with a 154, while sophomores McKenzie Stevens and Cam Baker tied for 7th with 158s. The trio also led the way at Regionals, where Stevens won the individual title with a one-under 71 at Salem Hills Golf Club. Baker placed 2nd and Gill finished 4th, as Northville claimed the MHSAA Region 3 title by an astounding 39 strokes — with all five Lady Mustangs finishing in the top nine.
Northville’s consistency and focus were key to their repeat performance. The team, which lost only one key golfer to graduation, relied on the experience gained from last year’s championship run.
Ranked No. 1 in Division 1 throughout the season, the Mustangs proved deserving of that distinction — dropping only one match all year when a team-wide illness struck. The result: a wire-to-wire season of excellence and another state title to show for it.
Congratulations to Coach Schultz, Coach Murray, and the entire Northville Girls Golf Team on an incredible back-to-back championship season!
