Opportunity to Provide Input for Federal COVID-19 Funding

Northville Public Schools recently held two virtual informational/input sessions regarding the district’s application for approximately $8.0 million in one-time federal funds that, if approved, would address learning loss, and the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly for underrepresented student subgroups disproportionately impacted by the pandemic .

Superintendent Gallagher along with other NPS leaders gave an outline of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds (ESSER III) along with the Equalization allocation (referred to as Section 11t Equalization funding) and then opened it up to parents and other stakeholders to give suggestions and ask questions.  As indicated in these sessions, these federal funds must be used by September, 2024.  Additionally, based on federal requirements, the funds can only be spent on the permissible areas outlined in the presentation slides, which are available at: ESSER III & Equalization (Section 11t) Funding stakeholder informational slides.

We are seeking input and feedback from district stakeholder groups, including students, parents and staff members, as we begin to develop a plan for the most appropriate use of the funds to support student learning, mitigate the impact of COVID-19, and address the needs of students, with the parameters of the grant funds.  For more information about this funding opportunity, please watch the recorded informational sessions and provide your suggestions and feedback through this ESSER III Survey link (survey open through November 22, 2021).

Your input is valued greatly. We look forward to hearing your thoughts, ideas and priorities for use of these funds to support student learning. Questions or comments may be directed to [email protected].
