At its November 19, 2019 meeting, the Board of Education officially adopted Northville Public Schools 2020-2025 District Goals, which continue to build on the District’s core work to create flexible, learner-centered school communities that advance learning and leadership while fostering the skills and dispositions necessary for success.
The revised goals follow a thoughtful review process that began in 2018-19, with input from stakeholders including students, staff, parents and community members, several rounds of discussion at committee meetings, and include identified areas of focus for the 2019-21 school years. The goals include a continued focus on increasing student “voice’ and agency – listening to what our students have to say, and ensuring that they are actively involved and empowered in the learning process. They also reflect a more targeted focus on social emotional learning (SEL), and core competencies that align with what students need to be “future ready” in a rapidly changing world. Safety and security, the district’s instructional framework for teaching and learning, support systems, and accreditation processes are also among the District’s priorities, or “big rocks.” The detailed goals also include a reference guide/glossary with links to additional information.
