3-21-19 "Message from the Superintendent" Newsletter

Front page of 3-21-19 Supt. NewsletterDear Northville School Families and Community Members,

Attached is the latest edition of the Message from the Superintendent newsletter. I hope you will take a few moments to meander through it, as it captures examples of the deep and thoughtful learning taking place in our classrooms and beyond our school walls, along with many celebrations of learning, leadership and service.

Thank you to all who participated in Parent Camp 2019 on Saturday, March 23, 2019! Following a brief welcome, participants had an opportunity to attend up to three break-out sessions on a wide array of topics of interest to them, led by Northville educators and experts from across the community. Topics included supporting children’s social and emotional wellbeing; cyber safety; time management skills; building your child’s reading and writing skills; kids and technology; helping students transition from middle to high school and high school to college; and an opportunity to hear first-hand from a panel of high school students about the benefits and challenges of being a Northville High School student. Our annual Parent Camp is a partnership of Northville Public Schools and the Northville Educational Foundation. Many thanks to NEF, each our sponsors, and the many Parent Camp presenters – including principals, teachers, staff, students and community members – who gave so willingly of their time, talents and expertise with the goal of helping parents better help and support their children. It truly takes a village!

Spring Break is now upon us. For your awareness, all Northville Public Schools are closed for Spring Break beginning end of the day Friday, March 29, 2019, through Friday, April 5, 2019, other than for specific Spring Break programs. Classes resume on Monday, April 8, 2019. Our Board of Education offices, located at 405 West Main Street, are open and lightly staffed from Monday, April 2 through Friday, April 6, 2018, from 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and available for phone calls and scheduled appointments from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Regular business hours and staffing will resume on Monday, April 8, 2019.

At Northville Public Schools, we have so much to be proud of, and grateful for, as we strive every day to create a World of Possibilities for and with each and every student. Thank you to our teachers, students, staff, families and community members for making this possible. Enjoy a safe and healthy break from the regular routine of school – whether you are on vacation or your children are enrolled in Spring Break programs!

Sincerely,
Mary Kay Gallagher

Superintendent
