We are thrilled to have you joining Northville Public Schools! Below please find the appropriate steps to register your student(s) for school. Please note, each student will need to be registered separately in the system.

Current Young 5s: Currently enrolled Young 5 students do not need to enroll for Kindergarten. They will automatically be placed into their home/boundary attendance area school for the 2026-27 school year.

Northville Public Schools Attendance Areas

Elementary Schools: Attendance and boundary areas are indicated with a solid background color. (See key at bottom of map.)
Middle Schools: Attendance and boundary areas are indicated by a dotted red line (two middle schools).
High School: The district has one high school for all students.
Center Program: The district operates a special education center program located at Cooke School which serves Wayne county special needs students.

How do I enroll my child for the 2026-27 school year at Northville Public Schools?

Please review each step to begin your enrollment.

STEP 1: Are you enrolling in Kindergarten or Young 5s? Please review to determine eligibility. If not, go to Step 2

Northville Public Schools is now accepting Kindergarten and Young 5’s enrollment for Fall 2026.
To be eligible for Kindergarten, students must be 5 on or before Sept 1, 2026.

Kindergarten and Young 5s Eligibility Timeline

Birthdate Date Range	2026-2027 Placement
May 31, 2020 and older	First grade Placement (regardless of previous participation in Young 5s or Kindergarten)
June 1, 2020 - Dec 1, 2020	Eligible for Kindergarten or 1st Grade (if you have completed Kindergarten)
December 2, 2020 - May 31, 2021	Kindergarten Placement
June 1, 2021 - June 30, 2021	Eligible for Kindergarten Eligible for Young 5s Pending Space Available (placement will not be made until early August)
July 1, 2021 - September 1, 2021	Eligible for Kindergarten or Young 5s
September 2, 2021 - December 1, 2021	We Recommend Young 5s Eligible for Kindergarten Both Require a State of Michigan Waiver
After December 2, 2021	Not eligible for Young 5s or Kindergarten Early Childhood programming available

Students who's birthdate is after
December 2, 2021 are NOT eligible for Kindergarten or Young 5s for the
2026-27 school year. Children in this age group can enroll in our tuition based preschool program. Visit the Early Childhood website for more information.

Step 2: Gather Documentation

The necessary documents are listed below:

Student Birth Certificate
Parent/Guardian Picture ID (driver’s license or passport)
Proof of Residency – 3 Total Documents as Detailed in the Enrollment Document Requirements PDF below.
Immunization Record
Vision/Dental Screening (Kindergarten Only)
Signed Kindergarten Waiver (Young 5s students with birthdates between 9/2 and 12/1 must also have this completed)

For a detailed description and checklist of the required documents, please review the Enrollment Document Requirements page before continuing to Step 2. Once you have all the documents gathered, please save them electronically for easy upload to our secure portal.

Step 3: Complete Online Pre-Enrollment

Step 4: Visit your school's website for back-to-school information and school-based programs

Back to school information will be available in early August.

All six of our elementary schools are fully-engaged in The Leader in Me framework, which emphasizes a culture of student empowerment that helps unleash each child’s full potential. To find out more about this innovative school-wide model, visit the Leader In Me page on the district website. If you have any additional questions about your child’s school, click on "School" on the navigation menu to go to your specific school's website.

In addition, please note that Northville Public School Early Childhood Education and Extended Day programs offers Kids' Club at each elementary school. This tuition-based program allows parents the option to have their child participate in a before and/or after school childcare program. Kids' Club is offered as an option on school days from as early as 7:00 A.M to the start of school and from school dismissal until 6:00 P.M.
