Northville High School Concerts Create Holiday Magic

The three evenings of concerts will take place at 7 p.m. on December 19-21 (Tuesday-Thursday), 2017 in the NHS Auditorium. Led by vocal music instructors Mary Kay Pryce, Mark Krempski and Beth Richert, the choirs will sing a variety of holiday selections. The Chorale choir will once again feature a candlelight processional. Instrumental music instructors Michael Rumbell and Johanne Ray-Hepp will lead the band portion of the concert. Schedules for specific choir and band performances for each evening are available on the “Arts & Clubs” drop-down menu on the NHS website at
In a long cherished tradition, each concert will close with the FATS (Friend, Family, Alumni, Teachers and Students) Choir joining current choir students on stage to sing a carol medley, followed by George Frederick Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus”.
“The idea for the FATS Choir started in the mid-1980s when there were so few choir members,” Ms. Pryce said. “At the time, we needed more singers on stage. We no longer need to add singers, but the FATS Choir tradition continues. We hope many will join us for a wonderful evening of music.” Also for alumni, Thursday evening will include the annual post-concert party at Ms. Pryce’s home.
Tickets are $10 and are available for purchase at the high school box office on concert nights, via Ms. Pryce at or by calling 248-344-3978.
The music department also encourages supporters to purchase $50 Music Boosters raffle tickets. Raffle proceeds supplement the program’s funding and are available via Raffle winners will be announced at the final concert on Thursday evening.
Ms. Pryce enthusiastically invites everyone – especially former students – to this and the many other choir and music events throughout the school year, as she completes her 40th and final year of teaching in Northville Public Schools. Her career and contributions will be celebrated at NHS from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday June 9, 2017. See “MKP’s Mic Drop” on Facebook or contact Ms. Pryce at for details.
