Special Education
Welcome to Special Education Services
Our Mission
Northville Schools is committed to supporting all students in reaching their fullest potential. Our Special Education Services ensure inclusive access to education and tailored support in compliance with IDEA, state regulations, and best practices.
Special Education Services includes serving students with special educational needs through Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 Plans, as well as collaborating with the Office of Instruction to implement the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). The department also oversees services for students experiencing homelessness under the McKinney-Vento Act, school nursing services, and multilingual services to support English learners and their families. Additionally, the department manages early childhood programs, including the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP), to ensure a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Through these comprehensive services, the Special Services Department works to foster equitable access and success for every student.
- Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS): A framework that provides targeted interventions to meet students’ individual academic and behavioral needs.
- School‑based counselors and social workers: Available at every grade level to guide students through challenges and promote well‑being.
- 504 Education Plans and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Personalized supports that ensure students with unique needs receive equitable access to learning.
Together, these supports create a safe, inclusive, and future‑ready learning environment where all children can succeed in school and beyond.
