Northville’s K-12 Unified Program: Champions of Inclusion

A Unified District, A Unified Future

Northville Public Schools is proud to be one of the first K-12 Unified Champion School districts in the state of Michigan. From kindergarten through high school graduation, our students have the opportunity to learn and grow in an inclusive community where all learners are valued, welcomed, and empowered.

Our Unified Program brings students with and without intellectual disabilities together through sports, leadership, and school-wide engagement. This commitment to inclusion is not just a program — it’s a movement that are focused on weaving into the culture of every school in our district.

Our Partnership with Special Olympics Michigan

In collaboration with Special Olympics Michigan, Northville has led the way in implementing and sustaining Unified Champion School practices. With their support, we’ve been able to:

  • Launch inclusive sports teams across grade levels
  • Develop student-led inclusion campaigns and leadership opportunities
  • Host Unified events that bring the whole community together

Special Olympics Michigan has been an incredible partner in helping us build a more inclusive world, starting right here in our schools.
