The ATL skills framework is concept-driven and developmental, encouraging students to reflect on their skills, practice strategies, and grow from observation to self-regulation. It equips learners with the ongoing tools to succeed academically and personally, while fostering adaptability, collaboration, and innovation.

The MYP Personal Project offers a culminating independent project completed in the final year of the Middle Years Programme, allowing students to explore a topic of personal interest over an extended period.

It assesses key Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills—such as self-management, research, communication, critical and creative thinking, and collaboration—through three components: the process, the product, and a reflective report. The report is evaluated by a supervisor and externally moderated by the IB, ensuring consistent global standards and awarding each student a final achievement grade.  

At NHS, students have the options to complete this project on their own or with the support of the Personal Project course.  Successful completion of the Personal Project is noted on  students' final NHS transcripts.

During second semester of grade 10 all students and families will have the opportunity to learn more about the IB Diploma Programme and its courses. We invite all interested families to partake in these learning sessions.

By allowing students to experience a broad range of learning opportunities in grades 9 and 10, we equip students make informed and individualized academic choices for grades 11 and 12.
