Mustangs Set New Standard: Most Successful Charity Week in School History

The halls of Northville High School are typically defined by academic excellence, but this past week, the focus shifted toward a singular, heartfelt mission. By the time the final whistle blew at the Friday night finale, the Mustang community had officially shattered records, raising a historic $9,042.29—the highest total ever recorded for Charity Week.

Every cent of this record-breaking total is dedicated to Angie, a brave local girl battling a rare cancer. In partnership with the Jenna Kast Believe in Miracles Foundation, these funds will fulfill Angie’s wish: a dream trip to the Florida Keys for her and her family.

A Week of Record-Breaking Momentum

The fundraising efforts kicked off with a high-energy "Day 1," featuring a fleet of food trucks. Students lined up across the lawn for Auntie Anne’s pretzels and Waffle Cabin treats, turning a lunch break into a massive community contribution.

The energy only intensified on Day 2, which saw seniors and student-athletes volunteering to be "pied" in the cafeteria. The mess was worth the reward, as donation jugs began to overflow in anticipation of the mid-week events.

Donuts, Duct Tape, and Determination

Day 3 proved to be a turning point for the campaign. The Student Council hosted a sprawling bake sale, filling the hallways with donuts and gourmet cookies. Simultaneously, the cafeteria hosted one of the most memorable sights of the week: Tape the Principal. In a display of extreme school spirit, Principal Koski was secured to a concrete pillar with hundreds of strips of silver duct tape each pair of strips representing a dollar donated by students.

The momentum continued into Day 4 with the Student Congress Dairy Queen Blizzard Sale. Hundreds of Blizzards were distributed during lunch periods, ensuring that the drive toward the finish line was as sweet as possible.

The Grand Finale

The week culminated in the legendary Student vs. Staff Basketball Game. With a packed gymnasium and electric energy in the bleachers, the game served as a victory lap for a community that had spent five days giving its all. The announcement of the final total—$9,042.29—brought the house down, marking a new era of philanthropic impact for Northville High School.

Impact Beyond the Building

The reach of Charity Week extended into downtown Northville on Saturday with "Parents Night Out." While K-5 students enjoyed an evening of games and activities at the high school, parents were encouraged to support local businesses, creating a full-circle community effort.

With this record-setting donation, the Northville community hasn't just provided a trip to the coast; they have sent a powerful message of solidarity to Angie and her family. 🌴☀️
