Innovation in Action: Northville Students Shine at 2026 STEAM Fair

A young girl stands behind her colorful, erupting model volcano at a school STEAM fair. The volcano is covered in green and red textures with white foam flowing down the sides.

The energy was electric on April 22nd as students from across the district gathered for the annual Northville Educational Foundation STEAM Fair. The event, held at Northville High School, served as a vibrant showcase of student ingenuity, blending the worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

A Hands-On Exploration

From the moment doors opened, the gymnasium was transformed into a hub of discovery. This year’s projects highlighted the impressive range of our students' curiosity:

  • Engineering & Tech: Visitors interacted with student-coded robotics and explored the mechanics of "Microcontrollers"—the electronic "brains" behind modern automotive safety.

  • Physical Sciences: Classic experiments like Bernoulli’s Principle (using airflow to levitate objects) and magnetic propulsion systems (Maglev trains) allowed students to demonstrate complex physics in real-time.

  • The Arts: True to the "A" in STEAM, the fair featured theatrical performances and creative displays, proving that communication and design are just as vital to innovation as a lab report.

Building Future Leaders

The STEAM Fair is more than just a science project; it’s a platform for students to practice critical thinking and public speaking. Whether they were explaining the chemical reaction of a colorful volcano or the intricacies of the human cardiovascular system, students acted as lead investigators and educators for the community.
