Exciting news—registration is officially open for our Young 5s and Kindergarten programs! We are so excited to welcome our newest learners into Northville Public Schools next year. As we prepare for the 2026-2027 school year, please spread the word that enrollment is now open!
About the Young 5s Program
Our Young 5s program is designed for students who would benefit from an additional year of growth between preschool and Kindergarten. It's a free, full-day program staffed by NPS-certified teachers. The curriculum is developmentally designed to ensure Kindergarten readiness, focusing on social and emotional development, fine and gross motor skills, oral language, fundamental literacy skills and mathematical number sense.
Program Details
- Schedule: Full day, five days a week, following the NPS school year calendar with the same start/end times as elementary schools.
- Cost: Tuition-free for eligible students.
- Transportation: Busing is offered to students meeting district transportation criteria.
- Care: Before and after-school care is available (at a cost).
- Locations: Classes will be held at Ridge Wood and Winchester Elementary Schools (locations depend on enrollment numbers).
Eligibility and Enrollment
Enrollment is open only to Northville Public Schools residents and employees.
For the 2026-2027 school year, children turning 5 between July 1st, 2026 and September 1st, 2026 are eligible for either Kindergarten or Young 5s.
For children turning 5 between September 2nd, 2026 and December 1st, 2026, families may enroll in Kindergarten, but we strongly suggest considering the Young 5s program.
A signed waiver is required for both options in this age range. Children turning 5 after December 2nd, 2026 are not eligible for either program.
