Curriculum Council
As a part of the Curriculum Review Process, Northville Public Schools has established a District Curriculum Council, which reviews curriculum recommendations made by curriculum committees that are supported by the District’s Cabinet and Administrative Council to move forward in the process. The initial meeting each school year includes a review of the organizational structure for the curriculum review process (see attached), along with an overview of District Curriculum Council procedures.
Purpose
- The DCC reviews and approves curricula and textbooks/instructional materials prior to seeking approval from the Board of Education.
- District Curriculum Council may confer with district curriculum writing committees and/or content advisory teams or steering committees and give them input.
- As a means of promoting understanding of the broad scope of programs and services, District Curriculum Council may be advised of new and innovative programs or purchases that have been instituted that do not require their approval.
- Duties of District Curriculum Council do not include direct involvement in the curriculum development or evaluation process and do not include budgetary processes.
The group remains informed and abreast of initiatives that impact students and curriculum. It is their responsibility to disseminate the information to the constituents they represent.
Committee Composition
The District Curriculum Council shall consist of administrators, teachers, students, and parents with children in attendance of Northville Public Schools. District Curriculum Council representation will be as follows:
