Foreign Exchange Students

Northville Public Schools (NPS) residents often volunteer to serve as host families for foreign exchange students. While NPS recognizes the merit in foreign student exchanges, certain procedures must be followed prior to these students enrolling in any Northville Public School:

1. Residents must receive prior approval from the appropriate building principal before accepting foreign exchange students with the intent of having them attend Northville Public Schools. Application for approval is due by May 15th prior to the school year's enrollment being requested.

2. Foreign exchange students are only accepted from recognized Foreign Exchange Student Programs, e.g., American Institute for Foreign Study Scholarship Foundation.

3. All approvals will be finalized by the respective building principal(s) before the school year's end (i.e., June 2003) and before the 2002-2003 school year begins. These guidelines are intended to protect the authenticity of recognized student exchange programs as well as the educational opportunities of Northville Public Schools residents.
