Federal regulations state that “schools shall
make substitutions in foods… for students who
are considered handicapped… and whose handicap
restricts their diet. NPS will accommodate
special diets according to the following
guidelines.
Food Allergies – Food
substitutions will be made as required by the
child’s physician for allergies covered under
the Americans with Disabilities Act. A medical
statement form is required as well as advance
notification of the days the child will be
eating lunch at school. All Medical Statement Forms
must be updated at or before the beginning of
each school year.
Vegetarianism – A meatless option
is offered daily at the elementary level and is
listed on the menu. Meatless options are also
offered daily in the middle and high schools.
Families may contact Food Service for further
information as to what options are available in
the middle and high schools.
