The Northville Educational Foundation (NEF) was
established in 2000 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit
charitable organization by a group of parents
and concerned citizens to support academic and
enrichment programs that cannot otherwise be
provided by Northville Public Schools’ limited
operating funds. The NEF Board works in
partnership with the school district to identify
opportunities for students that go beyond what
could be accomplished with existing resources.
The mission of the Northville Educational
Foundation is to “attract, manage and distribute
charitable gifts to provide educational
opportunities that enhance Northville Public
Schools’ commitment to educational excellence.”
The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board
of Directors to manage contributions from NPS
district families, employees, alumni, community
members and local businesses.
Fundraising efforts such as “Corral Club” and
“Thank NPS Staff Members” have steadily
increased contributions from NPS families. The
NEF Board also encourages contributions from NPS
staff through payroll deduction. Many
individuals and organizations have contributed
through “Tribute Gifts” and “Memorial Gifts” to
recognize and honor individuals in the
community.
Recently the NEF Board began to distribute
funds, including providing Student Assistance
grants to every school in the district, funding
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Writing and Poster
Contest awards, and supporting the district’s
highly successful Galileo Teacher Leadership
Program. In addition, the Foundation plans to
offer Innovative Teacher Grants during the
2009-10 school year.
Giving to the Northville Educational Foundation
is a great way to support academic and
enrichment programs that will benefit the
students and staff of Northville Public Schools.
Please consider making a monetary donation or
perhaps volunteering your time and/or talents to
help guide the NEF in their future endeavors. We
look forward to working with you to continue to
provide outstanding educational programs for all
Northville Public School students this year and
into the future.
